This Golden Tip black tea from the Assam region of India is named after one of our favorite tea customers. It has a deep, burgundy-red cup, a textured spicy and roasted grain aroma, and a malty-rich flavor with notes of raisins. It is pungent but has a smooth astringency, making this tea an ideal cup to pair with milk and sugar. This outstanding Assam comes from the Mangalam Estate.

Tucked in between Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, Assam is a T-shaped (no pun intended) state in northeastern India. A haven for endangered species, including the one-horned Indian rhino, Asian elephants, pygmy hogs, tigers, and more, it is also the tea-lover's dream. Combining high precipitation during its monsoon season and high daytime temperatures, it features a greenhouse-like environment that is perfect for cultivating tea - more than half of the tea produced in India, in fact. It also boasts its own variety of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis var. assamica), one of only two regions in the world to do so.
